In many ways, 2009 was one of the most challenging years in our Bank’s 93 year history. What made it especially challenging is that much of what we were confronted with were events happening well beyond our influence, control and even our borders. Notwithstanding the foregoing, we are satisfied with the results of the year, be it that for the first time in decades 2009 registered a decline in profits as compared to the banner, record year of 2008. Perhaps more so than in all of those earlier decades, it was proven once again that it is the people of Maduro & Curiel’s Bank who make this such a great bank, and it is our people who demonstrated resiliency and creativity to make it happen in 2009.
