Self-register via any MCB Bankomatiko (ATM) or call us at 715-5520 and one of our agents will be happy to set you up. Once registered, you can recharge your own phone or someone else’s phone, even a prepaid landline by sending a free SMS message to the number 1111.

UTIL SMS Recharge allows you to recharge your cellular phone by sending an SMS to MCB.

How to register for UTIL SMS Recharge

Register for this service at any MCB Bankomatiko (ATM)

  • Choose Phone Recharge from the main options screen
  • Choose SMS Registration
  • Choose your telephone service provider (Digicel or UTS)
  • Enter your prepaid telephone number.
  • Choose if you would like to recharge other phones
  • You will then receive a registration receipt from the Bankomatiko.

Once the process has been completed, you will receive an SMS message confirming your registration. In this message, you will also receive your SMS PassCode. This PassCode is needed to send recharge requests. Keep this code in a safe place. You also receive basic recharge instructions.

How to recharge PRE-PAID phones

How to recharge YOUR OWN phone?

To recharge your cellular phone, send an SMS from the registered phone with the recharge command to the UTIL SMS number 1111

Send the following SMS recharge command to 1111:
RC<space>PassCode<space>Amount 

Example: To recharge USD. 6.= with PassCode 1234 simply send the following message to 1111: RC 1234 10 

Your cellular phone is recharged immediately for the specified amount. You will receive a message from your telephone service provider confirming the amount that has been added to your phone.

The minimum amount accepted for SMS recharging is USD. 6.= Your MCB account will be debited and your prepaid phone credited for the requested recharge amount.

Important note: Although the UTIL SMS service is free of charge your phone must have at least USD. 0.01 on it, for the SMS to be sent.

How to recharge OTHER phones?

To recharge another phone (cellular or pre-paid land line), send an SMS from the registered phone with the recharge command to the UTIL SMS number 1111

Send the following "SMS" recharge command to 1111:
RC<space>PassCode<space>Amount<space>OtherPhoneNumber 

Example: To recharge phone number 1234567 with USD. 6.= and PassCode 1234 simply send the following message to 1111RC 1234 10 1234567 

The other phone is recharged immediately for the specified amount. You will receive a message confirming the amount that has been added to the other phone. If the other phone is a cellular phone, it will receive a message from the telephone service provider confirming that the amount that has been added to the phone.

How to cancel UTIL SMS?

You can cancel UTIL SMS Recharge at any time via any MCB Bankomatiko ("ATM")

  • Choose Phone Recharge from the main options screen
  • Choose SMS Registration
  • Choose Cancel SMS Recharge
  • Choose your telephone service provider
  • Enter your cellular telephone number
  • You will then receive a cancellation receipt from the Bankomatiko.

When you have lost your phone

In case of a lost or stolen phone, please cancel UTIL SMS at any MCB Bankomatiko ("ATM"), or contact the Automated Services Department at 715-5520 to report your loss. The UTIL SMS Recharge service will be disabled until you re-register your phone at any MCB Bankomatiko ("ATM").

Important Safety Precautions For SMS Recharging

Here are some safety tips to avoid misuse of the SMS Recharge service.

  • Please ensure your PassCode is kept in a safe place at all times.
  • Delete the message containing the PassCode.
  • Delete your Sent Messages with the request to recharge your phone.
